The reason is again the rabble!.
They are the single biggest consumer of govt money.It's like a blackhole from where nothing comes back.
The result being lower allocation of funds to infrastructure.This becomes even lower due to rampant corruption in all states.The end result is what you pointed out.
Its been happening since 1947 and I don't see it stop anytime in the near future.

The biggest reason is our love to agriculture and unwillingness to correct the problem. Farmers don’t pay income tax. Period. Even if they earn 1 crore per year, they won’t pay anything.
My uncles are farmers and they easily earn up to 5 lacs per year from agriculture but they don’t pay anything. On top of that, this law is misused by many businessman and politicians. One of my friend’s father is a big businessman. He has purchased lots and lots of agriculture land. He doesn’t do any farming but what he earns from his business, he shows it as agriculture income to avoid taxes.
On top of that, farmers receives all kind of subsidies on fertilizers, electricity, etc. They also get loan waiver. Majority of Government budget goes to agriculture and hence no money left for infrastructure. It’s high time that we should stop this shitshow and allow industries to enter into agriculture and also bring agriculture income under tax umbrella.
We should stop treating them as “Anndata” and start treating them as any other businessman.

You are 100% correct. There are farmers who earn north of 20 lacs per annum even they dont pay any tax. As far as annadata goes these farmers only think of their output more crops more money. No body does anything for free in this world. If you dont buy their yield they will let it rot they wont be giving it for free to anyone.

Why are the most earning bollywood films always love stories? Think about it whatsapp servers have crashed once because indians send those revolting good morning images with coffee mugs and sunflowers and shit. The most number of motivational forwards always with photos of elon musk, warren buffet and ratan tata are of indian origin. And none of these people who forward such things ever do anything to contribute to society or have any redeemable value.

I agree with most of what you say. However, the statement about paying more in taxes than most developed countries is factually incorrect. most middle class professionals in western EU pay Income tax north of 40%. Infact income tax rates of 50% are common in western EU.
People in India avoid paying taxes like it’s a plague, thus generating black money, part of which goes into bribes and creating demand for money laundering services which further makes not paying taxes lucrative. It’s a cycle!

The dark cycle of corruption I suppose. The thing is that even if we pay that amount of taxes, we are not getting enough facilities for them. Take government schools as example. take the illetarary rate of our country for example. These are the things which no one really talks in Modi’s mann ki baat or sonia gandhi’s speech or rally. The reality is no politician cares about the life of the people here. Its a fact. You cannot deny it.
